Parma continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality by continuing with urban forestry and biodiversity protection interventions .
900 trees and shrubs have recently been planted in the Chiesi Group Research Center, thanks to the collaboration with the KilometroVerdeParma Forestry Consortium and Archèverde. The project continues and expands on what KilometroVerdeParma has already done, namely creating a tree-lined corridor along the 11 kilometers of the A1 highway that passes through Parma, redeveloping the environment of one of the busiest stretches of highway in Europe. The planting of these new trees on a surface area of approximately 2,500 m2 is part of the "4.5 million trees" program of the Emilia-Romagna Region and contributes to mitigating noise pollution and absorbing CO₂ .
The planted species were chosen precisely for their ability to filter particulate matter and pollutants, creating an effective urban green lung and improving air quality. Furthermore, the reforestation intervention was participatory , since it was Chiesi employees who planted the trees. This choice is important because it raises awareness among employees and, more generally, citizens, of the importance of protecting the territory and preserving and increasing green areas to improve the quality of life and reduce polluting emissions. It is above all thanks to initiatives of this type, which directly involve people, that it is possible to aim for a gradual change in behavior towards a more sustainable future.

But the actions for public greenery do not stop there and include not only the planting of new trees in various areas of the city, but also the " Prati Fioriti " project, which aims to protect urban biodiversity through the creation of green areas full of spontaneous flowers. These spaces not only beautify the city, but play a fundamental role in the ecosystem. Less frequent mowing allows the spontaneous growth of native flowers and plants, constituting an advantage both for pollination and to counteract the increase in heat, especially in summer.

The municipalities of the province of Parma are also promoting initiatives for the creation of green areas useful for combating CO₂ emissions and improving the quality of life for all of us. In Fidenza , for example, a forestation project was recently inaugurated that saw the planting of 1,000 native plants in an area of about 1 hectare located in the south-west part of the city. The project, promoted by Gas Sales Energia in collaboration with the municipal administration, is part of the national campaign "Mosaico Verde", conceived and promoted by AzzeroCO2 in collaboration with Legambiente.

Thanks to these concrete and participatory projects, Parma and Fidenza are transforming into increasingly green and sustainable cities, where teamwork can generate positive impacts not only on the planet but also for the community.
